O.D.1 is the first ever Oceanlord, built by Westerly Yachts in
1987. "OD" was Westerly's abbreviation for "Oceanlord", so she was initially labelled "OD-1". Her previous
owner decided to use this as her name, so that she would always be known as the first of her kind.
O.D.1 is operated as a Sail
Training Vessel, and is based West Quay Marina, West Quay Road, Poole
At 41 feet in length, she has berths for 10, although she
normally sails with 7 crew, plus a skipper and mate. She
carries all the safety gear and equipment required for a registered
Sail Training Vessel.

Her Cruising Area
O.D.1's normal crusing area for weekends ranges from the Solent and adjacent
waters to Weymouth, but longer trips may extend further along the south coast, or across the channel to Cherbourg and the Channel Islands.
O.D.1 has competed several times in the Small Ships' Race for youth Sail Training Vessels, for which half of those on board must be under the age of 25. This is held in October, and normally follows a course within the Solent, starting and finishing in Cowes on the Isle of Wight.
